Lonely Planet writer Greg Benchwick visits the desert outpost of San Pedro de Atacama in Northern Chile. Located smack-dab in the middle of the world's driest desert, San Pedro is an adobe oasis that has been inhabited since pre-Columbian times. Today, it has become Chile's number-one traveler destination, and for good reason: it's a perfect jumping-off point to some of this desert's most remarkable sights - the world's highest geyser field, a massive sand dune, alpine lagoons and high-plains hot springs. Oct 13, 2008 - There's actually alot of Americans here in Singapore, though I won't say they are the most tolerant or 'culturally educated' tourists I've met.

phudson215 Says:

Oct 14, 2008 - Why you got to say bad things about South Americans on a great video about Chile. The Americas have a lot of different Americans and your sweeping generalizations about the Americas sound pretty ignorant and untraveled

Jan 14, 2009 - made it to san pedro last year on an eco-tourism trip. it was amazing, of course, but very tourist driven. if you want the truest experience possible, be very selective with your guide choices. and if you are bold enough, do some exploring outside the confines of town and hired guidance.

Cvillemac Says:

Mar 11, 2009 - There are adventuresome Americans (from the USA) out there traveling. We've met quite a few, I think per-capita Americans are lower than many countries. Generalizations are not cool.

Aug 8, 2010 - We use "Action Boys Belize (dot com)" for a private tour of cave tubing and zip line from San Pedro Ambergris Caye. We got a discount of $80.00 p/p for a group of 15. It was a blast. Action Boys Belize is the best for the private tour. No need to stand in lines and we had a private van for our tour. Our kids were allowed to participate in both activities.
