Dec 23, 2009 - Which is exactly MvonJah's point. In light of how black Africa is, do you realize how ridiculous it sounds that there have only been "atleast more than 2 miss africa with dark skin"? That alone speaks volumes, for a place that it prodiminetly black-skinned. And yes, I do know that Africans, like all blacks, come in a variety of shades...naturally --not with chemicals or mixed marriages.

bintasyllah Says:

Dec 23, 2009 - Ok. Here's another thing. I was in Durban for about 9 months sometime ago and actually liked [some] of what BF did, but once I left SA I couldn't stand any of her stuff that was consider smash hits. Please suggest some awesome traditional artists besides ladysmith, masekela, makeba and the like, but something on the talent level of Mtukudzi, SKeita, N'Dour, etc. --Can't wait to read your reply.

LadyLibraNMore Says:

Feb 27, 2009 - Africans were forbidden from being themselves. For those who tried to maintain their culture, they were abused, even murdered. (i.e. the scene in Roots where Kunta Kinte was tortured into accepting the name Toby). We were kept from our religions, dances, EVERYTHING! The resources were limited for African-Americans interested in learning about Africa until just recently w/the internet.

bintasyllah Says:

Jul 20, 2009 - Ok queenie, I'm kinda confused. As a St. Lucian, do many folks there acknowledge african heritage, 'cause I was under the impression that mostly Brazilians and Cubans did. Almost all--no all Hatians and Jamaicans don't really acknowledge their african roots, they call it all Jamaican/Haitian and seem kinda nationalistic on the matter...kinda like Somalians...so I've learned something new!

2Tuuks Says:

Mar 13, 2009 - I have truly fallen in LOVE with African People,Music, movies, and products we have been robbed blind of so much as African Americans, and I thank God for the internet where we all can have a open dialogue even when its a few bad comments a Brotha or a Sista from Africa,US,Jamaica,Caribbean or some where in the world stand Up and defend Us as A people that is what makes me so proud to have this Blood the one thing that connects us all no matter the separation,or differences between us

Jul 10, 2009 - I freaking love their music, and my boyfriend loves how i move my hipz!!

bintasyllah Says:

Jul 18, 2009 - Finally, having said all that on skin color issues. I LOVE AFRICA. So many differnet cultures, languages, dress, attitudes, histories. Glorious! The west is very different from the central, which is different from the east, which is different from the South. (BTW generally S. Africans are lighter than central, western & eastern africans, yet they STILL use produit). But I love ALL my brothers & sisters, & the countries/areas I enjoyed the most were those LEAST like the US or Europe! :)

bintasyllah Says:

Dec 23, 2009 - uh...botox in lips? are we talking about BLACK women here? Don't know too many --any that would acknowledge a remote need for that!

benigcoca Says:

Jan 24, 2008 - jamaican girls have nothing on congolese girls. I used to listen to salsa, merengue, r&b, but uh-uh no more. I've been listening to Congo, ivorian and other african music for years now. I even saw Werrason perform. Great guy and heritier is sexy and i LOVE roi David. Zina was also a great danseuse, i like giselle also.

omoibile Says:

Feb 27, 2009 - May the Spirit of Africa continue to live in you. I really like my sistas and brodas who are bent on reclaiming their Ancestral root unlike streotyped others that choose to ignore their heritage.

Adgegbe50 Says:

Oct 15, 2007 - she sure does look like her. Dang noone wants to dance for Koffi no more...lol!!

wbtjob Says:
