Marienplatz (en: Mary's Square) is a central square in the city center of Munich, Germany since 1158. In the Middle Ages markets and tournaments were held in this city square. The Glockenspiel in the new city hall was inspired by these tournaments, and draws millions of tourists a year. Marienplatz was named after the Mariensäule, a Marian column erected in its centre in 1638 to celebrate the end of Swedish occupation. It is home to Munich's Old City Hall (Altes Rathaus) and the New City Hall (Neues Rathaus). Munich's old city hall is the most easterly building on the square. It's a gothic council hall and ballroom and tower, which have been reconstructed. The New City Hall was built 1867 - 1909 in Flanders gothic style; its facade, over 300 feet in length, features strikingly elaborate stone ornamentation. Aug 12, 2009 - Thank you! I have a microphone that attaches right to my computer while I am editing. I use Pinnacle to edit all of my videos. That allows me to edit just the narration separate from the music and background. They are just silly home movies but I enjoy reliving good times by watching them.

Nov 15, 2009 - I loved Munich. My son and I went there this past summer (2009). A lot to see in and around Munich. Amazing subway system and so clean. If you plan on going to Munich you must visit Marienplatz at night where there are many great outdoor performers with many colorful lights. thank you for posting your video.

Sep 28, 2010 - Nice video. We visited munich both in 2008 and 2009. This is a city which has the capacity to entertain you almost every minute. Marienplatz with its old city hall (Rathaus) and placed high above in it , the famous Glockenspiel (life-size figures' dance) at 11AM and 5PM, Frauenkirche(Church of Our Lady), the well known department store 'Kaufhof', the multi story bookstore 'Hugendubel' the famous beer pub/restaurant 'Augustiner' and various street entertainers makes this a fun place to be.

I really loathe this town and really hate their residents. People staring at you in the U-Bahn or on the road with such an ugly angry face with no reason; waiters and waitresses so rude (like peasants) and Impolite: all different from Dutch (I am half Dutch) and Scandinavian people who are instead really friendly.
