I speed skate and we have to start off with a running start then start to pace it then on the last 2 laps its a sprint or 3. Also i do 5 step and 6 step Techniques 5 for long races 6 for short races. I not best in stamina but i am the best sprinter on the team.

I started getting into inline / rollerblading when they first came out, which seemed to have more options and be more friendly for outdoor skating. My question is this: Is inline / rollerblading a lot faster than the old days of speedskating on rollerskates? It's been about 27 years since I was speedskating on rollerskates.

Nov 12, 2009 - i would really appreciate ur help. i train speed skatin now on the ice, but here where i live we do not have any good coaches for this sport so i have to train on my own pretty much, so i am wondering if technique on the ice is the same then on rollerskates? can i train on rollerskates for on the ice or is very different? i train in fitness a lot and i squad like 400lbs ( 180 kg ) and i am not really fast and im not really explosive!! i dont know why...that make me mad

Jan 29, 2010 - Technique on ice is very different from rollers. You have to be careful that you don't pick up bad form from rollers because you don't have to be nearly as precise about your foot placement with wheels.
